Incubus

My friend Alexis got tickets to Incubus's first ever concert in Istanbul.  Her uncle works in the music industry, so we also got back stage passes.
If you've known me since high school, you'll know that I've been an Incubus superfan for quite some time (this was the 7th time I've seen them live).  I met everyone from the band and they really live up to their "nice guy" reputation.  I taught Brandon (the lead singer) to say "Merhaba" ("Hello" in Turkish) and talked to them a little about studying here.  It was hard not to be a little starstruck, especially because I was talking to the one guy I ever had teeny-bopper feelings for.  Dave was a dear and told me since it was International Women Day, I could sleep with one of the band members of the opportunity arose (needless to say, it did not).
I haven't gotten the backstage pictures back yet, but I'll post them when I do.  Anyways, it was a crazy fun night of good music and unbelieveable

Alexis and I made friends with some people from Ankara.  They were soooo into Incubus, it was adorable.  It was so cold out!

Alexis and I were about to walk into the door where Incubus was (they were behind the door on the right) when I saw that the security guard letting us in was my good friend Kaan!  I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!  Neither of us knew we were going to be there.  He works as security at some clubs and big events in Istanbul because he's such a big guy and he speaks English so well.  If you know him, it's a little funny that he works security because he's just the nicest guy. But it must be nice being a big Turkish who guy speaks English.  He said the band gave him pizza :D  He had to work security during their whole set so he couldn't watch the concert with us :-(.  But wow, he's the best looking security guard I've ever seen!

We hung out with our Ankara friend some more before Incubus went on.  She's smiling because she just hugged Brandon :D

Lots and lots of people were there.

Incubus came on!  Apparently, Brandon now plays the guitar......

.....but still plays the drums.

Their new bassist.

When Alexis and I were leaving, I heard a guy shouting my name and when I turned around, I found our new American exchange friend from our Istanbul Multiculturalism class!  He's a really cool kid, who's also from California.  We got to meet all his Americans friends and girlfriend.

That's awesome! It makes me remember the Warfield show we saw together. Ah, fun times.
